Linda Eaton Reiner - Melbourne Australia - 3.59 pm 21 October 2009
This is my first personal post on our family blog and I'm so excited to think that my great, greats (children, nieces, nephews, cousins) will be reading this one day! I'm Linda Reiner. Born, Linda Elizabeth Eaton in Elmhurst, IL 14 July 1959. We moved to Florida when I was two years old. My parents were Fred and Foy Eaton. You'll get to know them and the rest of my branch of the family tree as time goes on. I now live in Melbourne, Australia and I'm married to David Reiner.
My story today is about my Grandaddy (Charlie Burton) and my brother Len(Len Eaton) and me. Oh, and a mule named Kate. Grandaddy and Granny(Lou Burton) lived on a farm on a dirt road. Grandaddy would often borrow the mule from the neighboring farm. I remember once Grandaddy, Len and I walked to the neighbors, their name was the Byrds, to borrow Kate the mule. Grandaddy hitched it to a wagon, and with Len and I sitting on the back we headed back to Gradaddy and Granny's house. But the part that I remember so vividly is Len would jump off the back of the wagon while it was moving, quickly pick up a hand full of pebbles and run jump back on. All the while, I was laughing and telling Grandaddy to go faster! But I knew Len would catch up. Kate wasn't that fast. Then we sat there throwing the pebbles off the back ... maybe leaving a trail for the Indians.
Love, Linda
